There was once a time where people yearned for a relationship with God that manifested through the gifts of the Spirit. Church was more than a place of membership, it was a place of worship. A place where those who yearned for more of God’s Spirit expected Him to meet them.
But as we grew in materialism we have drifted away from the things and the presence of God. We have become satisfied with experiencing weekly glimpses of his glory, all the while yearning for more of his presence. What would happen if we thirsted for God once again more than for things?
Psalms 42:1-2 reminds of of the yearning that we must return to it says, “As the deer pants for streams of water, so my soul pants for you, my God. My soul thirsts for God, for the living God.”
Let us move away from materialism and make God a priority. He wants a personal relationship with you because he is a personal kind of God. Picture that, God yearns for you just as much as you yearn for him. So let us all, return to our first love.
