Most of us would concur that we should be bold when we pray. But are we audacious enough to believe what we pray?
We must ensure we are asking in Jesus’s name, according to His will, and believing His promises regarding our request.
Most of us learned the modeled prayer commonly known as the “Lord’s Prayer” before entering preschool. It teaches us to pray not only for God’s will to take control of our lives but also that His saving grace will give us our daily bread and deliver us from evil. There is a lot packed in this prayer. That’s why Jesus instructed us to pray in this manner. We become a part of God’s Kingdom when we accept the sacrifice of Jesus Christ and repent.
Praying for God’s Kingdom should be our focus as a Christian The Kingdom of God should be a spiritual rule over the hearts and lives of those who willingly submit to His authority because the Kingdom is in us.
Scripture tells us that we are not just to pray, but rather to pray believing. Therefore, if we are explicitly told to believe when we pray, then it must be possible to pray and not believe? “I tell you, you can pray for anything, and if you believe that you’ve received it, it will be yours.” (Mark 11:24)
I believe not only is God’s Kingdom real, but it is here. We are in God’s Kingdom so we should stop living as if we are in bondage. Sure, there will be sin, hurt, disappointment and pain in this world, but that does not mean that God is absent. Too often we see God as far off or unattainable. But He is hear for us and He has promised “I will never leave you nor forsake you.” (Joshua 1:5). We can certainly experience God’s Kingdom here on earth as it is in heaven. “Heaven belongs to the LORD alone, but he gave the earth to us humans” (Psalm 115:16). Therefore, to encounter God’s Kingdom, we must first understand and believe that we are under a new covenant through and in Jesus Christ. In Matthew 28:18, Jesus declared “And Jesus came and said to them, ‘All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.”
Ask Boldly – Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you (Matthew 7:7, NIV)
Pray Boldly – So let us come boldly to the throne of our gracious God. There we will receive his mercy, and we will find grace to help us when we need it most. (Hebrews 4:16, NLT)
Believe Boldly – But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt, because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind (James 1:6, NIV)
Father light a fire in us that we might ask according to Your will, and then believe boldly with the faith of Jesus that You will answer.
