“11 For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation for all people, 12 training us to renounce ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright, and godly lives in the present age, 13 waiting for our blessed hope, the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ, 14 who gave himself for us to redeem us from all lawlessness and to purify for himself a people for his own possession who are zealous for good works.” Titus 2: 11-14 ESV
As children of God we have a blessed hope that is one of the pillars of our faith. That blessed hope is that one day we will witness the return of Jesus Christ Our Lord. On the day of his ascension as recorded in Acts 1:11 ESV something very important happened that we often overlook “…Men of Galilee, why do you stand looking into heaven? This Jesus, who was taken up from you into heaven, will come in the same way as you saw him go into heaven.” To some it appears as if the those who were present were distracted, to some it appears as though they were being lazy, and to others it appears as if they just simply didn’t know what they were going to do.
However, if you look deeper they were expecting Christ to return immediately. How amazing we would be as believers if we lived as though we expected the manifestation or the appearing of Christ at any moment in our lives. For he once appeared to bring salvation to the world and we earnestly await his triumphant return to establish the Kingdom of God on earth for all eternity. My brothers and sisters may you have the blessed hope to expect his return any day now and live a life that’s pleasing in the sight of the Lord.
