“Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the wicked, nor stands in the way of sinners, nor sits in the seat of scoffers; but his delight is in the law of the LORD, and on his law he meditates day and night.” Psalms 1:1 ESV
It is interesting that when we think of meditation that we either think of yoga or other beliefs such as Hinduism or Buddhism. Still, it is established in scripture that Believers in Christ ought to meditate daily.
Meditation is a set of techniques that are intended to encourage a heightened state of awareness and focus. Don’t be deceived; true meditation is not an easy task; it requires discipline and total surrender.
In other words, you have to clear your mind of the distractions of the day and commit yourself to draw closer to God. This is the state of awareness that every believer must commit themselves to if they desire to be closer to God.
Jesus often went off to be alone to talk to God or center his mind and spirit on God away from all distractions. My friends, that’s meditation, and if this practice was good enough for Jesus, then it’s good enough for you. Meditate daily so that your mind may be stayed or focused on him.
