Pastor Walter Robertson, III epitomizes the scripture “Many are called but few are Chosen.” This is demonstrated through his tireless efforts of commitment to one of the most active and progressive congregations in the Rembert community of Sumter/Lee Counties. He serves as senior pastor of the Union Baptist Church of Rembert SC, Inc. Pastor Robertson receives spiritual guidance and counseling as a spiritual son of Rev. Dr. Sammie D. Simmons, Pastor of St. Mark “4B” Baptist Church.
This vibrant man of God is no stranger to his community. He is employed as a School Counselor with the Sumter School District. He is the past Director of the Sumter United Ministries Emergency Shelter where he served those dealing with the crisis of homelessness, and Pastor Robertson is also a long-time mentor of troubled youth.
Pastor Walter Robertson, III is a chosen vessel of God, whom was chosen by God to preach the Gospel and was licensed to preach the Gospel in 1998 by the St. Mark “4B” Baptist Church, Sumter SC under the leadership of Rev. Dr. Sammie D. Simmons. He was ordained by the Wateree Baptist Association Lower Division. He served his Pastor faithfully for 16 years as an Associate Minister until the Lord called and ordained him to become the Pastor of Union Baptist Church of Rembert SC, Inc. in July of 2015. Since becoming the Pastor he has devoted his time to establishing Kingdom Order through his dynamic preaching and teaching of God’s Word not only in the house of worship, but throughout the Rembert Community. His proven efforts include continually growing memberships that are inspired by passionate and sincere corporate worship and the presentation of relevant, powerful instruction.
Pastor Robertson is passionate about education and strive to be an example for youth to see what you can become when you take advantage of the opportunities that the Lord puts before you. He earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Religion from Liberty University, a Master’s of Education Degree in School Counseling from South Carolina State University, and an Education Specialist Degree in Educational Leadership form Arkansas State University. He shares his accomplishments and success with a beautiful family, his wife, Latasha T. Sam Robertson and his three children and one grandson. He humbly accepts his calling as no mistake and thanks his parents, Janie and the late Walter Robertson, Jr. for their great vision, which helped to prepare him for the calling that God had ordained for his life.
Since being elected and installed as the Pastor of the Union Baptist church he has facilitated the creation of many different ministries within the church including the Hospitality Ministry, the Audio/Video Ministry, Chosen Youth Ministry, the Couples Ministry, the S.A.L.T. Singles Ministry, the Youth Advisory Council, the Worship Team, the Worship Choir, the Men of Valor Men’s Ministry, and the Diamonds & Pearls Women’s Ministry to name a few. Pastor Robertson has dedicated himself to the spiritual growth of the congregation of the Union Baptist Church as well as the Rembert Community. Under his leadership the church has rebounded to rebuild a beautiful sanctuary following a devastating fire in the first year of his Pastorate.
