Are you waiting for that job offer to come through? Are you waiting for approval on a mortgage? Are you waiting to get a good report about your health? Are you waiting for that child to change and make better decisions? Are you waiting to meet your future spouse? Are you waiting to be with child so you can expand your family? Are you waiting for your heart to heal from a bad relationship? Waiting is daunting and quite uncomfortable. To be honest, I’m not the best at waiting. Learning patience has been one of my most difficult hurdles in life. Yet, as a part of life, we all have a season for waiting. Most of the time, deep down inside, we wish we could skip the waiting process and move on to the next level. But God has purpose in our waiting. Colossians 1: 10-11 reads, “So that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and please him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God, being strengthened with all power according to his glorious might so that you may have great endurance and patience.”
Recently for me, I was waiting to move on from a company with a toxic, oppressive, controlling work environment. With this work environment, I was always frazzled, mentally overloaded, yet forgetful. I found myself speaking negatively, not being in the best mood, and an emotional wreck. During this wait, I kept thinking, “Lord I just can’t do this anymore” and “Lord, I can’t push any further” and “Lord, are you listening to my prayers?” Have you ever gotten to a point in your prayer life where you wondered if God was even listening? *raises hand*
God revealed to me, that yes He hears my prayers and I need to change my way of thinking. Instead of just wanting to move on to the next job, I began to ask God, “How can I fulfill this assignment?”, “Show me how to love those who have ill-wishes towards me”, and “Lord, once I fulfill this assignment, help me to move on to my next assignment; not just another job”.
So while you wait, please understand that the PROCESS IS NECESSARY. God is preparing you for your next assignment. There is a purpose in your wait.
