Have you ever heard the statement, “God is a God of a second chance?” Although this is a very popular statement that has been made to be a mantra in the church, this statement not entirely true. It includes a sprinkling of truth where it states that “God is a God of…,” a true statement that most of us can conclude with some great thing that the Lord has done in our lives.
However, we must make it very clear that God is not merely a God of a second chance. If it were so then upon falling short the second time in any area of the believer’s life we all would be judged to face the consequences of our sin. Therefore, God is NOT a God of a second chance, “God is the God of ANOTHER chance.
The scripture says, “But this I call to mind, and therefore I have hope: The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.” Lamentations 3:21-23
With the dawning of a new day, comes God’s mercies, or another chance granted by the Lord for us to get it right. Life will present many chances, and many will fall time and time again. But a wise man will always get up and thank God for another chance to get it right, while a fool will simply lie there and waste the gift of the Lord’s mercy. Remember, every day all who believe are given another chance to experience the grace and mercy of God. Every day we see that God is merciful towards us, and His mercies will “never come to an end.”
