“21 And the LORD went before them by day in a pillar of cloud to lead them along the way, and by night in a pillar of fire to give them light, that they might travel by day and by night. .” Exodus 13:21 ESV
You have never been this way before, and I know that things look and feel strange. During times of uncertainty on the journey of life, the enemy tries to make you feel as though you made the wrong decision to leave, leap, or stretch out on your faith journey. My brothers and my sisters faint not!
A very significant event took place as the people of Israel departed their place of captivity that still takes place in the lives of believers unto this day, and that event is that the Lord himself went out before them! Wow! In the daytime, the Lord covered them from the harsh heat with a pillar of cloud, and at night, he lighted their pathway with a pillar of fire by night. Yet these two acts were merely a visual effect so that the people could see what God was doing in their lives. What was he doing? Exodus 13:21 says that the Lord went out before them to lead them along the way.
Isn’t it amazing that the same God who sends you on the journey goes before you to provide you safe passage along the way? So go forth in confidence, don’t worry, and don’t be afraid, take the first step of the journey, and trust that the Lord goes before you daily along the way.
