Psalm 106:4 “Remember me, O Lord, with the favor You have toward Your people.”
Isn’t it ironic how we hold a grudge so often against one another and fail to forgive? All the while, we are expecting God to forgive us when we are wrong. We expect God to bless things that concern us and extend grace, yet so often we fail to forgive others.
I remember one particular time in my life when someone did me wrong. The pain seemed unbearable. This individual violated my innocence, abused my trust, and broke my heart. It took me about ten years to forgive them and to begin loving who I was created to be (I also had to forgive myself for allowing them to live rent free in my head all those years). The agonizing part was that through all the pain and resentment that I felt towards the individual, I still had to see them weekly, and often daily throughout those ten years. I found myself being filled with anger and bitterness. Then one day, I was reminded that through everything that I had experienced, that God still remembered me. Even the sin that I had committed, God still loved me and remembered me. God still FORGAVE ME.
The forgiveness that I received from the Lord for the sin that I committed and the wrong I had done convicted me that I needed to forgive the person who hurt me. When we sin and do wrong, the Lord is not pleased yet He forgives us. All sin weighs the same!
The favor I found in forgiveness was happiness and peace. I found an incredible shift in my mind, I know the Lord to be a mind regulator. There was favor in the instructions of the Lord, to use my tears as testimony. I thank God for my struggle because it gave me strength. I thank God for forgiveness, it gave me favor. I am grateful that the Lord remembers ME and shows me favor.
Don’t hold yourself or others in bondage for the sake of bandaging your pain. Forgive them, for the Lord does remember you and He will show you favor. Will you trust Him to bless you?
