Have you ever known anyone who’s always toting news, good or bad? They run back and forth sowing discord, always challenging your credibility? They always begin the conversation with, “can you believe that so and so did or said.” Then after they have unloaded all of their discord on you, the next thing they are going to say is, “what you think about that.” Their objective is simply to get you to talk about someone or something or simply to pull you into their mess so that they can accuse you of wrong doing. BEWARE, these people are stone throwers, and they have baited the trap that will allow them to stone you to death. This is the very same tactic that they used on Jesus in John 8:1-8.
They came to him with the intent to entrap him into either violating Roman law or violating the Law of Moses to discredit him. However we have to do as Jesus did; 1) be slow to speak, 2) let them reveal the intent of their heart, 3) use Godly wisdom to turn their traps back on them, and 4) watch them drop their stones and walk away. Although they have stones and the intent to destroy you, be encouraged by the words found in the Book of Isaiah 54:17 “No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD, and their righteousness is of me, saith the LORD.” The weapons, the stones will form against you, but they shall not prosper. BEWARE of Stone throwers.
