” 2 At the end of three days the officers went through the camp 3 and commanded the people, “As soon as you see the ark of the covenant of the Lord your God being carried by the Levitical priests, then you shall set out from your place and follow it.” Joshua 3:2-3 ESV
Do you remember the rules and concepts of the childhood game, follow the leader? The key was to listen attentively so that you mirrored the actions of the one who was giving directions. Now consider how better your spiritual life would be if you used the same approach.
Joshua and the Israelites were given clear instructions to follow the Ark of the Covenant that the priest would carry before the people. The significance of following the Ark of the Covenant was that it represented the tangible presence of God. Therefore the people were commanded to follow God into the new land.
Let us apply the same principle to our lives and strive to follow God in the direction he desires for us to go. The author of Psalms 37 applied the principle and rendered the following thought, “23 The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord: and he delighteth in his way.” So, in the boldness of his faith, the Apostle Paul said to the believers at Corinth to “follow me as I follow Christ.”
Now, as you fast and pray, consecrate yourself for the journey and when the time comes arise and follow the leader.
