” 4 When he has brought out all his own, he goes before them, and the sheep follow him, for they know his voice. 5 A stranger they will not follow, but they will flee from him, for they do not know the voice of strangers.”.’” John 10:4-5 ESV
The other day on YouTube, I saw a video of a man standing at a cage calling for the sheep to come to him, but the sheep stood fast and did not move. They kept on grazing as though they were not even bothered by the sound of his voice. The man tried several times to get the sheep to come, only to be ignored. Then the shepherd walked up and called for his sheep one time, and they hurriedly move through the gate and towards their destination, which was the barn. Wow! That video is a powerful visual of John 10:4-5.
Imagine with me if we genuinely operated like sheep both in our faith and in our daily living. No matter how many times the stranger (the enemy) attempted to get our attention, we (the sheep) would keep feasting in the pasture (God’s provisions), never to be distracted. Wouldn’t it be breathtaking to have the ability to refuse to be distracted by strange things? Imagine with me if we only listened and moved at the sound of the shepherd’s (the Lord) voice. How much better would your life be? How quickly would you make it to your destination (safety)?
As a result of this time of fasting and praying, may you become dedicated to the sound and only move at the sound of the shepherd’s voice. When he calls for you, may swiftness take over your feet, and may safety become your final destination.
