Have you ever stopped to think and consider the power of your words? The thing is most of us do not, and the end result can often cause a lot of unnecessary heartache and pain. Think about it, words misspoken or mishandled have led to the ending of relationships, the ending of business partnerships, they have led to broken marriages, words have led to wars and rumors of wars and words have even led to lives being takes.
Listen closely; words are the most powerful force in the universe! Words shape worlds! God spoke into the void and the Earth came into existence. Then according to the Book of Genesis, God used words to call everything else into existence with the exception of mankind, which he made with his hands.
Simon realized the power of words when after toiling all night yet catching no fish Jesus told him as recorded in Luke 5 and said this,
“And Simon answering said unto him, Master, we have toiled all the night, and have taken nothing: nevertheless at thy word I will let down the net.”— Luke v. 5.
Where would you be if you took the Lord at his word? How much better would your life be? How much heartache would you have avoided? My sister and brothers I challenge you to not question, to not doubt, but to take God at his word. So the next time you hear the voice of the Lord speaking to you, I dare you to say, “Nevertheless Lord, at thy word.”
