I kicked the year off with a new career and new beginnings. It sounds very exciting, right? However, in the flesh the career choice I made wasn’t ideal at all. The way the world sees it, my career change did not provide any level of progression or promotion…in the natural. What’s even crazier is that, I’m now mid-career, performing a job I’ve never performed before, with a major pay cut. But through my God-given glasses, it makes all the sense in the world. I call it my “God-given glasses” when I can see things through my spiritual-being and not in the flesh. Often times, we make decisions that seem to make sense in the natural, but we have to make decisions based on the steps and plans ordered by God. You see, recently, I was out of position and not working in the capacity that was assigned by God. As a result, I felt out of place and was honestly miserable day in and day out.
A few months back, one of my blogs mentioned that I learned to not just change jobs but to wait on my next assignment. I will be honest and say there has been a time or two where I’ve become frustrated. I find myself asking, “Lord, did you really place me here?” Then God always gives me confirmation and reminds me that this is indeed my assignment, my mission, and my position. No matter how unusual it may seem to you or others, if God called you to it, He will give you the tools and resources to succeed in the capacity that He placed you in.
The shepherd of our flock, Pastor Robertson, started this year’s teachings with topics like, “20/20 Vision”, “Lord, Perfect My Vision”, and “The Vision of Love”. These sermons encourage us all to see and act according to the only real perfect vision: God’s vision. My daily prayer is that God helps me see people, the world, and situations through His eyes. With our God-given glasses, we can love and interact with others in a way that is pleasing to Him.
